PostcodeCheck ("we", "us", "our") operates the website postcodecheck.co.uk. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use our service.
What data we collect
We collect minimal data to provide our service:
- Postcodes you search: We send the postcode you enter to third-party government APIs (Police.uk, Postcodes.io, Environment Agency, etc.) to generate your area report. We do not store your search history.
- Payment information: If you purchase a premium report, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details. Stripe provides us with your email address for report delivery.
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people use the site. This collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and approximate location (country/city level). No personally identifiable information is collected.
- Reviews: If you submit an area review, we store the review text, rating, and the postcode you reviewed. We do not require or store your name or email for reviews.
How we use your data
- To generate area reports when you search a postcode
- To deliver premium PDF reports you have purchased
- To send your report to your email address (if you purchase a report)
- To improve the service through anonymised analytics
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Stripe for payment processing
- Resend for transactional email delivery
- Google Analytics for anonymised site analytics
- Vercel for hosting and deployment
- Various government APIs (Police.uk, Postcodes.io, Environment Agency, Land Registry, Ofsted, EPC Register, DfT, ONS, Ofcom, CQC) for area data

Cookies
We use essential cookies required for the site to function and analytics cookies from Google Analytics. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Data retention
We do not store your postcode searches. Payment records are retained by Stripe in accordance with their data retention policy and UK financial regulations. Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months.
Your rights
